The 30th Anniversary Historic Festival took place all weekend at Limerock Park in Lakeville, CT but I was only able to make it to the car show portion on Sunday September 2nd 2012. There was also historic racing on the track the next day but I was also unable to watch that as well. I did get some shots of the cars being prepped for the next day though. What I did get to experience were over 2000 cars from all different makes, models, styles and countries lining the entire track! Some cars were completely stock, some were heavily modified and others were just outright race cars. This was the 30th incarnation of a 1 day museum for thousands of different cars that wouldn’t otherwise be together anywhere else. Where else would you get to see American, European, Japanese, etc. all in one place, at the same time and from all different eras? What better a place to see the progression of the automobile and how it has become an obsession among enthusiasts, collectors and motorsport? How else would you get to see race cars from the last century door to door with each other short of a museum? This, I will say, was an experience. Strangely, I’ve been an automotive enthusiast for some time and there were a lot of cars I didn’t even know existed. Some cars I had never seen before other than in photographs, on the internet or television because of their price or rarity. Check it out and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
