Gumball Meet & 32nd Historic Festival 2014

It seems there were two events going on at the same time at Limerock Park a cool car show called the Gumball Meet on the top level and the annual Historic Festival down on the track.

You don’t often see these Galant VR-4’s. A regular Mitsubishi Galant 4 door sedan but with a turbo and 4WD thrown under there. If you scour the internet real hard they even made an AMG version. It’s out there.

Listen Mitsubishi, stop making boring cars!

You can definitely feel the VIP style with this Toyota Celsior/ Lexus LS430!

Love this Lotus with he carbon fiber bits! Especially because it’s light as it is already!

There’s something a little different about this Mini. Look a little closer!

And then, there’s this!

I’ve always loved old Fairlady Z’s. That goes especially for the S30 240z variety. I could give the credit to Wangan Midnight but there was this guy that lived down the street from me that owned a white 260z when I was a kid. When I was a kid I didn’t really know the difference and I didn’t really care. All I knew is it was a cool car and I wanted to know what it was. Wangan sure solidified my love with them. This one was supper clean and even had headlight covers that you hardly see.

The Sakura reps were cool on this white Miata. I’ve considered getting a set. Or attempting to find a real set which might break the bank or take forever, or both! Haha.

It’s funny that I didn’t know there were that many differences between the face-lifts on the Genesis coupes until they were side-by-side. I remember seeing one in Canada when I went for F1 in 2012 and trying to figure out what it was. I really like it.

I’m glad the Korean manufacturers stepped up their game. Here’s a bunch of creative ways you can have your Genesis.

Lots of carbon!

Once I discovered that the Historic Festival was going on at the same time I decided to go down to the track and check it out. For those not familiar with Limerock’s Historic Festival, it’s a weekend long car show and race event dedicated to all makes and models. It’s mostly older cars, classics, rarities and vintage race cars that you get to see all in one place. The whole track is lined with any model of car you can possibly imagine from anywhere in the world. This is the 2nd time I was able to check out the Historic Festival. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to check out the vintage racing that takes place during the event yet.

I can see the corporate connection but I’m not convinced this Fiat 500 Abarth is a Mopar. That’s probably because my vision of Mopar is a V8 the size of the car. But I’d still drive it anyway.

Old school automotive art is always awesome.

Thanks to these awesome women for letting me take their pictures next to this Bentley race car!

The patina and character from this old Triumph TR3 caught my attention and I had to admire all the details. I’m sure this has some racing stories to tell!

An cool racing example of a Ford Mustang G.T. 350.

I love AMC. I know they didn’t last as long as the big 3 but they sure made some cool cars while they were around. My favorite example would be the AMC AMX based off the Javelin. The one I like the most is the red, white and blue one but I haven’t seen one of those in person yet. I’d settle for a regular AMX though!

And finally I came across these two Mustangs sitting next two each other. It definitely gave me a cool juxtaposition for how the two cars had come in 40+ years in production.

I’ll just leave the running Mustang as the last image. It seems a fitting metaphor for the car culture. No matter the changes, it just keeps running.

Thanks for reading!
