Since shooting with Alex at Milltown in 2013 my interest in the old school hod rod/ pinup scene has increased. As you may have seen by my Tune by Tuna post I have some familiarity with older cars. So when it came to checking out more local hot rod shows I was all for it. Alex, myself, my brother, and Steven set off to Ralph’s Diner but not before getting a bit lost. However, we figured out where we were going and soon found ourselves driving by some hot rods and the sign for Ralph’s Diner. And that’s when we knew we were in the right place!
Ralph’s Rock Diner is tucked away at the bottom of the parking lot. If you want to know some history about the place be sure to check out their website. It’s really cool inside too!
I’m not really quite sure what kind of car this started out in life as but it’s awesome!

It was really cool talking to the owners of these two hot rods.
So we took a walk around the whole show and then decided to start shooting next to the cars.
It took a little bit to get comfortable because we hadn’t shot together in a bit and I’ve never worked with Steven before. But he was a natural. It’s funny because Alex kept saying he was stealing the show. And Alex was a bombshell as usual!
We hung out near the entrance for a bit near these cool cars and then we went off and did our own little photoshoot in the corner. It was pretty cool.

I really love the texture of this shot. The wall, the lighting and Alex’s pose just work perfectly.
Never take life too seriously. These shoots are always a blast and everyone gets better as we try new ideas and locations. It’s always fun working with new people as well. Because everyone has their own style that we can work off of.
Some of these shots seem to have a fashion magazine feel to them. But we all put elements of ourselves to make these shots what they are.

We decided to take a walk down the street to try to find something to eat. And we found other photo opportunities along the way.
These images two images are cool because they have a retro diner feel to them.
As we were about to turn around, ready to head in the other direction, this cool hot rod stopped right in front of me. Imagine what these streets looked like when this scene first started.
Overall it was a great experience. I had a great time shooting with Steven and of course Alex. I’m also glad my brother came along. Hopefully everyone enjoys these images as much we enjoyed making them!
