Pinup and Drag

Alex had come up with the idea of doing a shoot for Valentine’s Day last year. I agreed. We set about getting a date set and we met up at her place for the shoot. She had the idea for a burlesque/ Betty Page style theme. I thought that was a cool idea for Valentine’s Day. We moved the kitchen table back and set up against the wall. It was a plain white background that worked well. It also gave us the chance to experiment with indoor lighting and allowed me to use the DIY soft-box that I made a while back! I made it from t-shirts I got at the Goodwill, some cardboard, foil and a spare light fixture. Last minute she invited her friend Serenity Lockhart who is a drag queen. I had never worked with a drag queen before, so I thought it would be fun. We released one of the photos last year on Valentine’s Day on our pages. But up until recently I didn’t have the chance to finish the set. So here you go!

They had brought along some cool props for the occasion that worked perfectly!

Here’s the shot we all posted!

Those heart-shaped glasses are awesome!

This shot was pretty awesome!

This pose was courtesy of Alex’s friend Anna who was in some of the shots at Milltown and was helping out with the a lot of the behind the scenes stuff. A classic pinup style pose.

Another cool one that Alex came up with was the lineup shot.

And one of just Alex!

Those are the best shots of the ones we took. Thanks to Alex, Anna for helping with the behind the scenes stuff and my brother for help with the lighting and setup. I also want to say, it was great meeting and working with Serenity Lockhart!
