Vermonster 4×4 2014

I’m not much into big trucks or for that matter know much about them. At least until I made the journey from MA to VT to check out Vermonster. It really opened my eyes into what this is all about. They are just race cars with really big tires. Just as much time and money is spent on them as any race car. And they are just as purpose built too.

The only exposure that I’ve ever had are monster trucks at what is now the Mass Mutual Center when I was a kid at Monster Jam and whatever 4 wheel drives are rolling around in my area. But this was a bit different. Not only did Vermonster 4×4 have professional monster trucks, but mud bogs, side-by-side racing, mega trucks, amateur racers trying their luck at the mud pit as well as other off-roading activities.

People come up with some really cool things!

Took a walk around in the pits before all the action started.

Those trucks are almost as tall as the mountains!

On to the monster trucks!

There was an iteration of Big Foot and a bunch of other monster trucks smashing cars and getting air.

I spy a turbo under there!

Bigfoot Time!

Bigfoot just jumped over a school bus!

Off to check out the mud pits!!!

For those that inevitably get stuck…

At the starting line.

A bit of side-by-side action.

That man’s face though!

It was great talking with people to get a better understanding of how these things work. And exploring a part of automotive culture that I previously knew nothing about on this adventure. As for big blaring V8’s, that’s something I’m used to already. Haha. It was a pretty cool event even though I was only there for the first day on Saturday.
