Silver City Shakedown is an annual old school pre-’65 hot rod show located in Meriden, CT. It’s full of a wide array of cars from shiny, to stock, to rusty and custom. And it’s put on by the The Others Car Club.

There was a bunch of cool bands, burlesque performances and of course a lot of awesome cars!

For more info on their show be sure to check out SilverCityShakedown.com

Sadly at the time I did not have a hot rod. And still currently do not own one. But that didn’t stop me from enjoying the show!

This was a really a cool old racer.

The patina on this truck was awesome. And it makes for a bit of irony by the fact that the advert on the side of the rusted truck is for an auto body shop.

Fire and Water.

I made this one Black & White because I felt it gave the image a closer feel to what the show was about.

The edit on this one made the image look like a picture from the old days.

It’s a nice day for a convertible.

Why not?

A short break from the cars to admire the lake.

The first burlesque performance of the day by the very talented Kitty Katastrophe.

Old cars, a parasail and pinup. A cool juxtaposition.

These valve cover soap box cars were really creative.

I had some really awesome cupcakes from this truck!

“Pikes Peak or Bust”

And the second burlesque performance of the day by the very talented Dot Mitzvah.

Back to the cars!

Kristen from Frenchie’s Hair Salon.

An awesome performance by the rockabilly band SASQUATCH AND THE SICK-A-BILLYS. I’ve gotten the opportunity to see them several times and they’re really awesome!

The second burlesque performance by Kitty Katastrophe.

I like the fact that Kitty used a play on words with her cell number.

The last performance of the day was by Dot Mitzvah. She got very creative with this set by the use of her outfits.

With every car show I learn something about cars I didn’t before, meet new people and immerse myself within car culture yet again. Everyone at this show was really awesome especially the cool people that put this show together.

It was also the first time I met Kitty Katastrophe and Dot Mitzvah!
