Field Werks Annual Car Show 2013

0

This was the second iteration of Field Werks Annual Car Show. It, again, was held at the Elks Lodge in Ludlow, Ma but a little earlier than last year on September 15th instead of in October. All makes and models were welcome as it has always been a chill environment since the first show last year. They had awards for Best in Show, Best Air-Cooled, Best Water-Cooled, Best Accessories, Best Non-Euro and Peoples Choice. New this year were the Car Limbo and Skate Limbo, in addition to last year’s events: the Slam Bike Raffle and 50/ 50 Raffle. There were of course vendors and beer and food were being sold on site. Unfortunately the beer got shut down because someone went too far out in the lot but that seemed to be the only issue with the day. I also wasn’t able to get my car to this one, but my brother brought his and it was still a great day!

This was the first show I got to use my new camera so it took a bit to try to figure the settings and play around with it. As I do at every event I try to experiment and do something I didn’t do at the previous ones. Whether that is a different angle, focus on a different part of the car or whatever that may be. I feel like this camera allowed me to further that. Onto the show!

Milltown 7 (2013)

0

Return to the Milltown 7 was held on August 2nd and 3rd at the Hamilton Rod and Gun Club in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. There was a lot of events going on, such as bands, a few seminars, the cars and of course the pin-up model contest on Saturday. Initially that was the reason I was going. A friend of mine wanted to be in the pin-up model contest but due to a change in rules from the previous year she couldn’t be in it due to a deadline she missed to register. We decided to go anyway. Since she wanted to get started as a pin-up model I traded a bit of photography for a ride there. Even though she didn’t get to be in the contest a lot of people were asking her if she was. And a few people even said she should have won. Haha. Apparently the show got a lot more attention than it did last year because we had to circle multiple times before my friend could get a spot to park. Cell service for me wasn’t any good either, so it made contact a little difficult. She eventually just dropped me off, I got wristbands and I was able to get her a spot thanks to some people leaving and the awesome people directing traffic.

This was only my second time directing a model for an extended period of time and I believe Alex’s first time modeling. I’ve taken shots of models at shows before. Almost at every show I go to. They’re just walking around shows, I ask them if I can take their picture, they just do there thing, pose, everyone takes pictures and then they’re on their way. Not much directing or anything. This time I had to come up with poses and try to direct her to get the right angles and try my best not to screw it up. I hadn’t gotten my new camera yet so thankfully it was a beautiful sunny day out. I was still using my Nikon L110 (point-and-shoot). As the day went on the both of us fed off each other for ideas. Two of her friends were there and they were in a few of the shots as well. Eventually we got comfortable with shooting and a few hours later we were both pretty tired. Not only was she posing but I was too. Haha. It seems to make it easier to direct that way.
Anyway, it was a great day meeting new people, seeing some awesome cars and shooting with Alex and her friends. On to the show!

Summer Up! 2013 Car Meet & Benefit

For quite some time now I’d wanted to host a car meet/ show just for the fun of it. So after a bit of planning, and working with the nice people at the American Legion Post 277, a date was set. And since the American Legion raises money for Veteran’s causes I thought it suitable to put a portion of the donations toward the Holyoke Soldier’s Home in Holyoke, Ma. It also serves as a personal connection due to the fact that my grandfather spent quite some time there when I was younger. He also served in the armed services. The other portion was decided to go to the Boston One Fund because as we were planning the events in Boston had taken place. The majority of the donations went to the Soldier’s Home because a lot more people were contributing to the One Fund and the Soldier’s Home often gets overlooked. That, and in recent years funding has been cut from much needed care. But enough of the logistics on to the pictures!

STAGGERED Cinco De Mayo 2013: Wheels

This is the 4th and final part to my STAGGERED 2013 coverage. Hope you enjoyed it! But before you leave, what’s one of the most important things about these shows? That’s right, wheels!!! This post is entirely dedicated to the wheels of STAGGERED.

STAGGERED Cinco De Mayo 2013: Part 3

So what it seems is that I took a lot of pictures. Haha. In which case I had to make a few posts instead of just one! And this is Part Three:

STAGGERED Cinco De Mayo 2013: Part 2

Now onto the actual show area. It was split up in two sections: Exhibition (for those who wanted to show their car but not actually be in it for judging) and the Show area where you’d be judged for a range categories. Next time I’m definitely parking in the exhibition area because the extra $5 is worth not having to drive up that hill again. That was scary!

STAGGERED Cinco De Mayo 2013: Part 1

I heard about this show last year but never ended up going because I heard about it after the fact. But this year I wasn’t missing out. And miss out I did not! Covering this golf course in rural Somers, CT were cars from all makes and models, wheels of all sizes, mods of all different kinds from functional to not so much. It was sunny, hot and on Cinco De Mayo, so plenty of people were wearing sombreros to keep the sun off of the them. Thankfully they also had beer for sale on this really hot day. This is by far one of the biggest local shows I have been to with such a variety of cars. They had so many people that they sold out of food! But never mind that, on to the cars!

Floss Filthy presents: STAGGERED Early Bird Get Together

Floss Filthy presents: STAGGERED Early Bird Get Together happened May 4th 2013 in Enfield, CT at 7p.m. in the Red Robin Plaza next to the hotels. I saw it Floss Filthy’s Facebook page. It was pretty much for anyone who was going to STAGGERED to meet up and hang out with their cars before the next day. It was pretty cool. I met some new people and met up with a lot that I’ve met over the past year or so since I’ve started DISTANCE. I handed out some flyers for the meet I’m having and just do what I do; take pictures of cars!
